A news update...

A lot has been happening in our neck of the woods, and so you know that I haven't disappeared  I thought a little update wouldn't go amiss.

The Big News is we've bought a new house that needs a LOT of work.  SO much in fact that my head is spinning with lists and numbers.  Hopefully the budget (small as it is) does not get completely blown out the water.

Am itching to get it all done and move in. There have already been compromises made and a couple of glitches in the grand plan. I hope the central heating and hot water system stands up to my families demands as the cost of replacing what is in fact a new boiler would be most of the budget. It will have to make do for a few years yet, until i have saved up some pennies.

I have great hope that most of the work will be done as imagined in a small time frame as I can't wait to move in.

Will keep you all posted on the progress -  unfortunately it goes without saying that not much crafty is getting done around here.

Ta- ra for now

a busy time finishing

There has been a little voice in my mind  persistantly saying "you need to update your blog!!!"

The truth is I have had such a lovely time crocheting and enjoying the warm sunshine that has been over England that the last thing I wanted was to be at a computer.

Here is the craftiness that I have got up to in the last few months.

First off the granny stripe is finished...

I love this and all the bright colours, it was a joy to make.  Many thanks to Annie's Place for her inspirational colour sequence and to Lucy of Attic24 for her pattern.

Here is another of Lucy's patterns that I have wanted to make for ages and the the lovey Drops had a cotton sale and I couldn't let it pass me by so after another little browse on the Wool warehouse website a delightful parcel of cotton yarn arrived at my little house.  Not long later this is what I produced....

Now a few months before the cotton sale, Drops had a wool sale and as I obviously have not restraint I took advantage of the offer.  I did not have the love for this blanket whilst making the squares but as I joined one to another the realisation that I have made yet another blanket I can't part with, dawned on me.

My darling husband thinks we are soon to run out of space, I gentle remind him that at least we won;t get cold this winter.

Well it's the summer holidays here, and the rain has arrived...we are hoping the sunshine returns super fast so we can be outdoors this year.

Only other news to report is that we are just waiting for the solicitors to get things into motion and hopefully all will go smoothly on the purchase of a new house.  There is lots of renovating to be done before moving in so there maybe things to share then.

Happy Sunday all

A finish.... for my little girl

I have had so many WIPs on the go recently that not much has been finished. My darling man has been busy traveling for work and has given me a chance to get some things finished off...
This blanket has turned out so well  my darling daughter will be happy when she can have it on her bed. (it is single bed sized) The proviso is that she tidies her room - so maybe I will get to use it for a bit,

Another little make was this...love it and will definitely be making more..
The added feel good was my little boys face and him saying they were comfy.

So much on at the moment sometimes I feel like I'm sinking and sometimes managing to swim.

Anyway there is still lots more in progress....sewing, stitching and crochet will really try update more often. Will also try get some pics from my lovely garden as it springs into life.

Happy days.....(and hoping for a little sunshine)

keeping in touch

It's been a frustrating time and I just wanted to say 'Hi'
Unfortunately I have no stitchy or crochet updates.....my useful arm has been out of action due to a trapped nerve.  I think I have turned the corner and will hopefully be back to business.

I never realised quite how much I rely on my right arm until it ached all the time. Even running was to sore to do. It has felt like I didn't know quite where to put the arm, very awkward.  Well that's enough of the pity party - onwards and upwards.

Plans are afoot to try make time (read juggle time) to get to most things....to get fit, to play with my children, to have a lovely home, to make time for my darling man and to fit a little creativity in between it all.  Summer is on its way and it definitely feels like there are more hours in the day;-)

OOH! quick note am looking forward the Little House Needleworks Mystery Sampler....a definite must this year.

Well that's all for now

My 4 day blanket

We have had really horrid weather this weekend. After things starting to look like spring this is what arrived....

This really does not do it justice, there was a drift up to my front doors that was about 2 foot deep.

Before all this snow started falling my great stitchy friend over at Quietly stitching told me that Aldi was selling wool at a VERY reasonable price and in my great excitement I rushed over and bought 3 big balls of Aran ( the princely cost of £14.97).  Such was my eagerness that I got started straight away stopping all other projects.

Well, 4 days later, and with the help of a borrowed 8mm hook and some inspiration from here I came up with a lovely chunky blanket...

the details: 3 Balls 400g aran
: using 2 strands of  yarn switching 1 out every 3 rows.
: simply rows of sc and dc
: finished size: 132cm x 100cm ( just big enough to be really cosy in the lounge-  and child friendly sized)

I can't believe how super quick it was. Now to return to my rainbow blanket, cath kidston inspired granny square blanket and my current cross stitch.

So lovely to see there has been some visitors to my little blogging space, welcome and Thank You.

Hoping for some warmer weather...

Happy week all

Ripple reveal

Finally I have got around to getting the finished ripple pics ready for display.
I am so happy with the result... Ta DA!

Not that my bedroom is finished , I have a nice shade of red planned for the wall behind the bed and a new carpet is also due soon and along with new curtains rails, curtains and blinds.  Once it's all done it should look great.  Like all things  in my home it's a work in progress.;-)

some different views...

So many lovely blankets to make, I have made a start on a Cath Kidston inspired granny square blanket and have wool bought and on the shelf for another three so will be hooky all year I think.

Am still stitching too and updates will follow soon.

January at an end

Gosh this month has flown...

After putting some thoughts down, I have been working on things but typically I have been busy with other things. There has been progress I now have corralled a section of house as my sewing area and have getting my patterns down on paper the making can just about start in full swing, now to allotting specific time in my week for sewing.  just dipping my toe in before taking a massive leap, small steps for me I think.

On a stitchy note the wonderful A Good Marriage  by Lizzie*Kate is coming on nicely, pictures will be forth coming.

Here's an update pic of my ever more gorgeous ripple blanket - it has grown so much and is a thing of lovliness.

January is one of those months that makes me feel like I'm not getting enough done this being said I have to parties in the planning, my dd is 7 in two weeks and the long-suffering man who is my other half is fast approaching 40 and I can not let the date pass without celebration so working on that one too;-)

and now to love and leave you, pictures will be added this week for a little colour;)

So I've been thinking

I am not a fan of New Years eve and find the last day of the year generally depressing. I also do not 'resolve' to do anything or make any changes.

But....

I have been thinking, in fact my brain has been reeling over the last few days. These are just ideas and nothing fixed, but with my rediscovered interests and my frustrations as far as work goes I'm contemplating trying to turn what I love doing into a very small income and hopefully in turn leaving paid employment - thoughts anyone.

Another thought wheeling it's way through my tiny mind is that perhaps it is time to set myself a challenge...I despair at my lack of imagination at the meals I prepare so the idea is nagging - is it possible to try cook something different everyday. mmmm this has it's challenges..so it's still an idea forming and I guess there would be lots if exceptions so it still needs a bit of thought.

Well enough of my ramblings, there are some other ideas surfacing but I need to let them stew for a while.

Happy New Year all.

Oh here's a little extra -  I did try something new - from our Christmas roast leftovers....(and the roast veggies got turned into soup ta-da)
